I came here on a first date about a year ago. We celebrated our anniversary here again last night, and everything was just as incredible as the first time. The octopus is a MUST, and their white negroni ("Ghost") is damn near perfect. As for pastas (which are also incredible gluten-free) the risotto, ravioli, and pappardelle are all top-notch. There are many great restaurants in New York—many of them near Fort Greene even—but Evelina made us life-long patrons yesterday. They treated us like special guests from the minute we walked in, and we couldn't be happier after our meal. (We'll see you next year...)

I live in the neighborhood and walk past all the time. It’s always crowded and so I was excited to get to go to celebrate a big birthday. We sat outside which was mostly lovely (though there’s a lot of foot traffic) and all the food was delicious. Especially enjoyed the octopus with charred avocado and the steak (minus the charred broccoli rabe that had no flavoring & was a little too crispy/blackened). Got the viola cocktail and my brother got the one with magic (forgot the name) - yum. Didn’t stay for dessert because there were no gluten free options for me. I’ll also add that the waitstaff was fine, but not overly friendly and never smiled. I know this is a challenging time for waitstaff. But a little more friendliness would really improve the experience. The food would definitely make me return next time someone wants to take me out for a nice meal.
