We made a special trip to Lou Mitchell's while visiting downtown Chicago because of its iconic reputation, and overall we had a very good experience. We arrived around 1:30 PM, so there wasn't much of a crowd since they close at 2:00 PM. The food was delicious, and the portions were surprisingly large. I especially enjoyed the gluten-free pancakes, which had great flavor and were much better than many gluten-free options I've tried elsewhere. The coffee was also very good and paired perfectly with breakfast. The service was friendly, and the restaurant has the classic atmosphere you'd expect from such a well-known Chicago institution. Overall, a very enjoyable breakfast experience with generous portions, tasty food, and a bit of Chicago history. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
