This was my once my go to for a quick and somewhat healthy gluten free meal. In the past year, the food quality has tanked. My most recent meal was probably 85% rice and only a tiny amount of vegetables. The lemongrass pork had no edible pieces, it was either pure fat or chewy gristle.

I absolutely love Asian Box. I originally discovered them a few years ago in the San Francisco International Airport, and as someone with celiac disease, finding a dedicated gluten-free spot with genuinely great food was such an exciting experience. It was actually the first time I was ever able to try a bánh mì, which felt like a small but very memorable moment for me. Since then, Asian Box has become one of those places I always look forward to visiting when I’m in the area. On my trip to San Francisco this past September, going to one of their actual restaurant locations was specifically on my list, and overall it was still a great experience. The food was flavorful as always, and my friends really enjoyed their meals too. I will say, compared to the airport location I originally fell in love with, this visit felt slightly less fresh and the portions seemed a bit smaller than I remembered. Still very good food and absolutely somewhere I’d return to, but that was my one noticeable difference. The location itself was really nice though — cute area with outdoor seating, shopping, and a lively neighborhood vibe. It felt like the kind of area where people spend time walking around and hanging out, and I could definitely see why it was popular. Inside, the restaurant had a clean, modern casual feel with kiosk ordering options as well as ordering directly with staff. Nothing overly fancy, but comfortable and easy. Most importantly: dedicated gluten-free restaurants are such a gift for people with celiac disease, and Asian Box continues to be one of my favorite finds. I’ll absolutely keep coming back.

The food quality here has declined over the years. Ordered a kids box for my son and the steak was pink and under cooked. Our food did not taste fresh either. As a celiac this is very disappointing to have a dedicated gluten free restaurant not pay attention to the quality of the food.

Incredible bowl of noodles! I have a gluten-free diet so it can be hard to find good pho/ramen. And the photo speaks for itself on how much I liked my bowl of rice noodles! Perfectly cooked and seasoned meat, rich broth, and just the right amount. I loved having the extras on the side so that I could personalize the flavoring. As for the atmosphere, I loved the Disco music softly playing but the chairs were a little uncomfortable.

Delicious and nutritious food, for take away or delivery. I love the fact that their menu is totally gluten free. They offer several options on their menu with meat, chicken, fish or tofu, or you can choose to create your own box. Would definitely recommend to visit Asian Box! I had one take away and one delivery here. Apart from the food temperature I was totally satisfied about their food and would definitely come back here.

Delicious food while maybe not completely authentic Vietnamese tasting. I’m so grateful to have found this place as everything is Gluten free including the Banh Mi sandwich. Staff was very friendly. Highly recommend this place

We LOVED this place. Sooooo good. U we had a gluten sensitivity and picked this place to eat and it was fan-freakin-tastic!! Even our picky 12yr and 14yr kids loved the food. We'll be back the next time we're in town!

My husband, son, and I came for lunch after specifically searing for a gluten free place to eat. Everything here is 100% gluten free! And it’s absolutely delicious. I got the green curry chicken with no peanuts and couldn’t get enough. My son had the shrimp and rice kids box - at it all. My husband got the workout and I haven’t seen him that happy with a restaurant meal almost ever. I definitely recommend stopping by. The staff was also incredibly friendly and the environment was very clean. We will certainly be back!

First time here and the food was stellar and safe for anyone with gluten sensitivity or has celiac disease. Hands down the best food I've had while in San Francisco. The staff is awesome and super friendly. They are fully aware of the issue folks with gluten sensitivity and Celiac disease. This place made it so so much less stressful to eat in a town that you haven't been in many many years. So glad I found this gem.

THE FOOD IS SO GOOD! I have a gluten and dairy allergy. I ordered the Bahn Mi, The Miss Jones, and Shrimp Spring Rolls. Originally they thought the Bahn Mi bread had butter in it, and they called to let me know. But they figured out it actually didn’t, and called me again to assure me that I actually COULD eat it. No dairy or gluten. Not only was their communication GREAT but, no joke, the Bahn Mi is the best sandwich I’ve had in my ENTIRE LIFE! Just, wow. The bread was crusty like no other gluten free bread I’ve had before, and the meat with the cilantro and pickled veggies - such a great combo. I was hungry when I ordered, so I got a bit too much food for one meal. Although I didn’t eat it all, the few bites I had of The Miss Jones were very yummy. I am really excited to have that for lunch tomorrow (or maybe a late dinner 😁). The spring rolls were essentially like every other spring roll I’ve eaten before, BUT the PEANUT SAUCE! So creamy, peanut-y, tangy, and with a mild hint of spice at the end. I made sure to get every last drop out of the container. Delicious. Anyways. I don’t normally leave reviews, but the food from Asian Box was just too good not to. I am only in San Francisco for the day, and I am very sad to hear there aren’t any San Diego locations. If you’re looking to expand elsewhere, please look into San Diego. I would probably eat there every day.

Excellent service. The entire menu is gluten free by default, no need to ask for any accommodations or substitutions! Staff are eager to help and very friendly. I had the ox box and it was delicious, great cook to the steak. If you’re not a big spicy fan I would recommend asking for light sauce or none. Highly recommend stopping by.

I’ve ordered from here 10x over the past two weeks. Love that everything is gluten-free and so customizable, and being severely gluten intolerant myself it’s hard to find a place where you feel consistently safe eating or ordering out. I’m surprised this place isn’t on more gluten free restaurant lists! Such a great find.
