Pizza Express at Media City is a large restaurant; it has the new Pizza Express look and feel that I love, with vibrant orange coloured booths, a large open kitchen, and nice lighting. The location is good, but it can get very busy during event days, including at Old Trafford. My most recent experience here was very busy, the restaurant was full, with many diners being turned away due to demand, as it was before a Manchester United game, I feel the staff dealt with the demand very well, despite being busy, they still ensured food tasted good, came out in good time, and the staff still seemed genuinely friendly, engaging and happy to be there, one male staff member, who I think was the manager, was going above and beyond, he seemed to be everywhere at once, helping diners at the host stand, making sure my drink was topped up and also making small talk and check-backs with customers, he seemed like a great person, just watching him and how he dealt with customers and staff, you can tell that he cares a lot. For my food, I ordered the Gluten-Free Pollo Ad Astra, with a portion of dough balls, I asked for my food at the same time, there was a short wait between the dough balls and the pizza, but I get it, as they were very busy and it still was fast enough that I could enjoy them both together with them remaining hot, which is good enough for me. My food was pretty good, although I do prefer the regular gluten-free base rather than the Romana one, and I wasn’t given an option, I still enjoyed my pizza; the toppings were good quality, including the chicken. My biggest issue with Pizza Express recently has been the changes made to the garlic butter for coeliacs, but I like the change of adding it to a sealed pot. While it was still slightly runny and did melt fast, it was firmer and easier to spread than previously, so I could enjoy my dough balls again. The pricing is reasonable, and I also like the number of offers available, such as Tastecard and the Pizza Express Club App. It makes the food much more affordable, but I do feel it can be a little expensive without offers. This is one of my favourite Pizza Express locations, mainly down to the quality of service and how they can maintain great standards even when the restaurant is super busy.
