We had a table booked, but when we arrived it wasn’t available. We were asked to sit at another table while we waited, which unfortunately hadn’t been cleaned and still had crumbs on it. Once we were eventually seated, I ordered the soup from the gluten-free menu. When it arrived, it was served with gluten-containing bread and gluten-containing croutons. When I queried whether it was gluten-free, the staff member said she didn’t think it was and asked if it would be okay if she just removed the bread. When I asked about the croutons, she said she wasn’t sure and had to check with the chef. A fresh soup was then brought out with gluten-free bread, but by that point my confidence had been shaken. If you are someone with coeliac disease, I would not recommend this place, as situations like this are not just inconvenient - they are a genuine health risk. The café itself is nicely decorated and in a quaint location, but unfortunately that didn’t make up for the experience.
