Clementine Bakery is a cozy place known for the quality of its vegan and gluten-free offerings that has won many loyal customers over the years. The friendly staff remains a strong point, welcoming visitors with courtesy and availability. Despite some recent changes, this place continues to be a beloved stop for those seeking tasty and mindful options.

I don’t know if the owner turned this place into passive income or something but it’s a shadow of its former self. The kitchen is never open, they gradually discontinued their reuse refill offering and the gluten free selection is a fraction of what it used to be. I bought a queer candle company candle here one time then next time they said they stopped carrying them. Today there’s one barista for the cash register and making coffee.I don’t come as much and wouldn’t be surprised if they close down soon. The staff are really nice though

It's exceptional for people who are vegan/gluten-free; as a person with food allergies, a lot of the allergen-free options were delicious and extremely satisfying. Nothing made me happier than trying pastries I could eat. Would recommend.

I’ve been a loyal customer for over five years, especially because their vegan and gluten-free cakes were some of the best I’ve ever had. The quality, care, and consistency kept me coming back. That’s why it’s incredibly disappointing to learn that the current owner, Earthly Eats LLC, is refusing to meet long-standing employees’ requests for fair wages and basic accommodations. These are the very people who helped build this bakery’s reputation and made it such a beloved part of the community. The recent changes to the website reflect a broader shift—less warmth, more generic branding. Sadly, it seems the business has lost sight of what made it special in the first place. I truly hope the owners reconsider their priorities and start supporting the people who made this place what it was. Until then, I can’t in good faith continue to support it.

the baked goods are so tasty! my most recent visit here was to get a gluten free cupcake for my friend for my birthday party. I was shocked to see how many gluten free options there were to chose from! she LOVED the gf carrot cake!!

What a gem! Delicious sandwiches and so many pastries and baked goods! All plant-based, some gluten free options as well! Some seating inside the building, some outside, and additional seating in a veranda attached to the bakery. Lovely staff, friendly service and great opening hours. Highly recommend!

I ordered a gluten free bagel with cream cheese here and when it came, it didn’t look gluten free. So we double checked with the counter person/server and they confirmed it was gluten free. Unfortunately it was a regular bagel - I was throwing up in their bathroom 20 minutes after eating it. I wouldn’t recommend this place as safe for people with celiac disease or gluten intolerance.

I recently dined at clementine bakery and unfortunately, the visit was quite disappointing. We each ordered the gluten-free avocado toast, which arrived far from what was promised. It lacked toppings listed on the menu and the toast itself was a letdown—hard and cracker-like, with a texture that was more doughy than crispy. It was literally bread with the thinnest layer of avocado slathered on it, and a few pepitas. The website was misleading on what was offered, and we had high hopes based on previous reviews, but like some of the recent feedback, we wish we had chosen somewhere else. For the price, the meal did not meet expectations, and unfortunately, it was not worth the expense. We were left feeling disappointed and wishing we had saved our money.

Exquisite vegan bakery in Brooklyn that offers a selection of vegan and/or gluten free pastries, breakfast sandwiches and great coffee. Staff were very lovely, especially the redhead from Dublin whom we had a lovely chat with. I’ve never had a better croissant or pain au chocolate – these were seriously on point! Also enjoyed the BLAT sandwich and a few day old scones and muffins for only $1.50. Love that they are conscious about waste as well. Will definitely return when I’m back in Brooklyn.

Heavenly #vegan drinks here like the Chai at Clementine Bakery near the Classon G train stop in #Brooklyn. Baked goods were ok. Didn't blow my mind. Plenty of #gf and #glutenfree options. Everything is vegan. Lots of outdoor space and dog friendly.

I’ve passed by so many times over the years I finally decided to swing by for a treat this month. Love: The variety of vegan and gluten free options, decent breakfast and light lunch offerings. Not so great: $6 for a croissant. Yes, a croissant. The same pastry you can find in a vegan boulangerie in France for €1.20. Literal jumpscare. The prices for the pastries were surprisingly not visible, so I can’t speak to pricing for everything else. Hard to see how this can be ‘community-rooted’ when pricing is somewhat inaccessible (quite literally a housing authority building two blocks over). Staff was also quite aloof and somewhat annoyed at 10 AM. Update: Re: Clementine’s reply: So much time spent nitpicking the comparison yet the most important comments were not addressed: 1. Pricing transparency for all of your baked goods. I’ve been a few other times after leaving this review and there is still ZERO signage. When you ask for pricing, the staff become visibly annoyed and huffy. 2. On the topic of staff— everyone has bad days and that’s okay. You don’t have to engage in small talk or pleasantries, but simple greetings and warm acknowledgement would be nice, ESPECIALLY if tipping is required.

Our lemon wedding cake was light and moist. The lemon frosting was perfectly sweet. The whole cake was delicious. The gluten-free chocolate cupcakes were a hit with the kids. We were thrilled to have vegan and gluten-free options.

Cute spot with lots of light, plants and great vegan food. A fair amount of seating, a small queue at lunch and also outdoor seating options for nice days. The cauliflower curry was awesome and the portion huge. The flavours were really satisfying and it kept me full for hours on end - which doesn’t always happen when I eat vegan food. They ran out of chutney, so they substituted with cranberry sauce. I really wanted to try one of their sandwiches but they ran out of gluten free bread - but I suppose it gives me an excuse to go back. The double Chocolate cupcake was good because the frosting itself was delicious! As for the cake part it was a little dry and rice-y but not bad. Definitely would go back to try more! For what it was, the prices are definitely very reasonable too :)

The BEST vegan cake/cupcakes in NYC!! The have a variety of flavors, usually at least 6-10 different options, that rotate each day. They also have great gluten free cupcakes, pies, and pastry options. The food is all vegan and is pretty good too. *Due to COVID, they've pivoted and added a farmers market. Really fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables. Will be back to do some grocery shopping in the future!

Excellent and ever changing baked goods, with tons of gluten free options. The PB&J bars are memorable, when available!
