Such a great place if youre gluten free or not! The vibe inside was really cool, employees are kind and knowledgeable. We got the grilled cheese breakfast sandwich and the g'day mate bagel. Both were incredible! Best gluten free bagel I've had. My partner is not gf and said he couldnt tell the bread was gluten free. Highly recommend!

I’m from the UK so this was an incredible experience. To have that quality of bagel and baked goods easily accessible was fab. It’s typical, particularly at home, that often places offer one or two gluten free things. So to have every bagel flavour possible to choose from was such a treat!

Dee is super sweet! I saw this place from outside and the sweets looked so good i had to try! Friendly service and great food! I love that they’re gluten free! I got the strawberry shortcake cinnamon roll, the bec (bacon egg & cheese, and matcha. The cinnamon roll is very fresh. It was my first time trying vegan bacon and the bec tasted fire! The matcha is good, finally a place with matcha that isn’t super sweet. Highly recommend going here!!!!

The BEST gluten free bagels in New York City. The best gluten free bagels full stop. Modern bread & bagel consistently delivers amazing quality GF bagels with fabulous lox and other toppings. The portions are very generous. The staff is patient, efficient and friendly - shout out to T and Fred! Also, don’t miss the gluten free babka - it’s amazing. I’ve been celiac for 15 years and no other gf bagel comes close to these. Plus, they ship!!

great bagels, we ate the bec* really good quality of ingredients and quite big, we thaonhy it was a really nice quality price. also all the menu is gluten free with vegan and vegetarian options.

goodness I cannot sing their praises enough. This is the place to go in a group with food restrictions because they truly have something for everyone. As a celiac (gluten free) it is such a dream to have a safe haven where everything is gluten free. I got the crème brûlée donut & then we came back later and I got an everything bagel (toasted…doesn’t usually happen for me bc cross contamination but didn’t have to worry about that here) with cream cheese & tomato, arugula and pickled onions. So so good.

I want to shout out Dylan! She was our “server” she helped me and my cousin with the best picks, never made us feel stupid, helped us understand the menu and was very patient with us. She also knew every regular that walked in and made everyone feel seen. On our first trip to NY this was definitely our favorite stop and we made sure to go back rain or shine on our trip. Their coffee was great it was cute and as a celiac I’ve never had a place quite like this. Now I need a location in Chicago!!

My husband was worried about being able to find gluten free options in the states as not many places marked as coeliac friendly/safe. This amazing place had everything fully gluten free and had some fantastic options for fillings. My husband had the jalapeño cream cheese, and he enjoyed the food so much we went back the next day so he could try something else. I had egg and avocado open faced bagel. Highly recommend this hidden Gem. Can’t even tell it’s gluten free! He recommends their doughnuts too. Staff so friendly and patient.

Had the white fish salad on sesame and the lox sandwich on everything. This is the most bagel like gluten free bagel I've had. It was so delicious, they weren't shy with the fillings. The workers were very friendly and welcoming. When the lines started growing, the staff handled it like pros.

I can eat gluten but it’s still one of the best bagels I’ve had. My sister is celiac and Modern Bread & Bagel has quickly become a favourite - so many great, safe options for her. The team at the Chelsea store are so lovely and friendly - highly recommend 🥯

Went here for breakfast twice when I was in the area. Highly recommend if you are looking for gluten free options. I absolutely love the bagels! Donuts were good too. And I like that they sell water in glass bottles as I prefer to avoid plastic whenever possible.

Modern Bagel is a Mecca for gluten free folks! NYC is known for its bagels, however finding a dedicated gluten free bakery can be a challenge - enter Modern Bagel. Their bagel flavor selections + bakery items are plentiful, and the egg sandwiches they create using their bagels are delicious! I got the G’Day mate on an everything bagel and it was everything I remember in a bagel before I was gluten free. I loved it so much that I came back for a second time during my short trip to NYC. I came with a friend who does not have dietary restrictions, and they also thought very highly of the food. The seating inside is limited, however this location is a short walk from Washington Square Park, which is a perfect spot to enjoy a NYC gluten free bagel. I will absolutely come back during my next trip!

The whole menu is gluten-free 😍. And for me who can eat gluten I don’t taste a difference to a normal bagel. They are really good and you can build your own bagel or take one from the menu. You can also pay with card.
