Had dinner here on a Saturday. Not too busy. We ordered the rice table for 4 pax. Everything on the menu is gluten free so that was a nice surprise for me. They allowed us to swap out beef for other items on the menu as 1 Pax does not eat beef. Staff were friendly and the restaurant was nice and spacious. The food came quickly. The food was delicious overall. Each dish was pretty yummy! (Maybe except for the fried rice which was a bit gluggy/clumpy). However, if you r a big eater, their portions may not be enough. Overall quite good experience trying out Rijsttafel.

Our waitress was amazing, the food was perfect. The photo says it all. 4 people and shared veggie and meat options. One of our team was celiac and the restaurant does gluten free which helps a lot. We just want to package up our waitress and keep her for a sad day. Chi-ching!

First time in an Indonesian restaurant. We had a rice table where you get small portions of many dishes. Everything was tasty with exciting new flavors. Our waitress was super nice and very helpful, especially with our food allergy needs (gluten and nuts). Actually, all the dishes are gluten free, which made our Celiac girl very happy. The place itself is wide and beautifully decorated with traditional face masks and other authentic objects. A great culinary and cultural experience.

Authentic Indonesian food served with a smile! Open 35 years and as popular as ever. Incredibly coeliac friendly with all options gluten-free. Awesome set menus with a meaty and vegetarian option. This is gonna be one of our regular go-to places! Highly recommended. Close to De Pijp metro so if you’re a tourist jump on the M50… don’t stay in the centre.

We ate at Desa on our first trip to Amsterdam and it was one of our favorite meals. After learning the history of the country we wanted to try an authentic Indonesian restaurant and couldn’t be more happy with our choice. We were treated with respect and given delicious food. The food had incredible flavor and felt very fresh. The staff was very helpful with gluten free, which was also appreciated. The signs when you first walk in are a little aggressive and not the most welcoming. But other than that the environment was simple, minimal and felt like an authentic family run restaurant.

Cash only! They were super nice in service and also accommodating the reservation. Was surprised to see it slightly empty since the food was so good! Got the RIJSTTAFEL VEGETARISCH to which they were kind enough to add a chicken dish for me to try. The RIJSTTAFEL came with white and fried rice. Definitely get their hot sauce as well which was soo good and added a great kick to the meal. Everything is gluten free and RIJSTTAFEL VEGETARISCH is vegan by default. 10/10 would recommend getting your Indonesian fix here in the city .

[celiac / gluten free review] I wanted to try some Indonesian food and this was a last-minute find and I'm so glad I went! The hostess was so lovely and she assured me everything was gluten free. As I was eating by myself, she recommended the single entree which had meat, veggies, and rice - it was delicious. There were a lot of groups eating here and their food came in multiple bowls, so there's likely more variety and options if you come with a group. Also, this place is CASH ONLY - I missed this sign on the door when I came in and had to run to the ATM next door. Overall, I highly recommend!

Delicious and authentic Indonesian food!! Visiting Amsterdam for a short break with my partner and we ordered the rice table to share. I am gluten intolerant and my partner has a nut allergy and they were so helpful and made sure to amend the nut based dishes and informed me that all dishes are gluten free!!!! Having travelled Indonesia extensively I was blown away by the food. Really really good. Such great value for money and the rice table means you get to sample the whole menu!

Dèsa is a treasure! We were a group of 7 people and 2 had food allergies. One person could not have gluten. Fortunately, almost all of the dishes are gluten free (I think there were dessert options that had gluten). The other person had allergies to many foods BUT the waitress was SO patient and helped our friend figure out something she could safely eat. Our waitress also had a wonderful sense of humor! For those without food allergies, we chose the shared food option. The dishes came out and were placed on warming trays that were on the table. A nice touch. Every dish we tried was delicious! We had a great dining experience!
