An absolute delight. Delightful Quality. Delightfully Fresh. Delightfully Inexpensive. Delightful Service. Fantastic. Well Done Casa Celia. #1 for Tapas in Spain. For Sure. I've been in Casa Celia before for breathtaking seafood dinners in the dining hall, but tonight I drove by and asked for 3 basic tapas at the bar, just to test how really good Casa Celia is. Undoubtedly the #1 Tapas Bar in Spain -was- obviously La Pepona in Seville, but I've just checked and they are closed, so this officially now makes Casa Celia the #1 best restaurant in Spain for Tapas. And very well deserved. Yes, the food is wonderful, the pulpo is superb and soft, the croquetas are a dream and tasty, the seafood salad I just had is the best ever, but I've just realized Casa Celia has an extra feature that makes them #1 in Spain: CONSISTENCY OVER TIME . And this feature is very hard to replicate: Some restaurants can open and take over in ratings with amazing stuff and jump to #1, but Casa Celia has been around since 1938, and that proves they are consistent with their legacy. 80+ years of Casa Celia. I remember watching the Japanese Sushi Documentary on Jiro Sukiyabasi, the Sushi restaurant in the Tokyo metro. The Japanese food critic on the documentary said that Jiro was #1 in the world because his quality is consistent over time. Well Jiro established in 1965 and Casa Celia in 1938, so it 27 years more consistent. Correct ? Galicians must be proud of their craft and traditions. Casa Celia is a clear example of Galician Pride, and it must be highly respected. Please note: I am not affiliated to Casa Celia in any respect and my views are strictly personal.
