Pizza Express at Piccadilly Gardens is one of their busier locations in the city. It has both indoor and outdoor seating, with a slightly small but pleasant interior. I’ve visited here a couple of times over the years, most recently ordering my food to be delivered. I do think Pizza Express in general isn’t as good as it was, I was once a regular with the chain but with last year’s changes to the garlic butter (for gluten-free), replacing it to a pre-made version, and reducing the value of their loyalty system, I’ve started to dine elsewhere, but after having a voucher on Uber, I decided to give them another try, and it seems to have got worse rather than better. I did find the packaging of my recent delivery order to be really wasteful. Alongside my pizza, there was a large paper bag containing two dipping sauces and an A4 sheet of paper. It just felt so wasteful and not very environmentally friendly. Also, a lack of a grease-proof sheet for the pizza box meant it ended up so badly soiled that it was no longer recyclable. I ordered the Gluten-Free Double American Cheese pizza, but it was so greasy and difficult to eat, as the toppings would slide off. The base was soggy, and it just felt unhealthy, messy, dissapointing and far from authentic. I didn’t end up finishing the pizza, mainly due to how greasy it was; it felt kinda gross. They do have some pretty good offers on Uber Eats, so the pizzas are honestly pretty good value compared to other delivery options, but this isn’t somewhere I’d visit if I had a choice due to the quality and plethora of other dining options around the city. The best days are certainly behind this place now, and it’s sad to see.
