I enjoyed my stay despite my disappointment that there is no longer a jacuzzi (I had looked forward to a 5 star luxury experience and I had stopped off on my way to buy a swimsuit as I had read about a jacuzzi - possibly from some old reviews). Instead the hotel offers guests a snooker room. Reception accommodated my requests - a bedroom that no dog had ever stayed in and a bathroom with a bath. I was allocated room 106 - whilst compact and without a view to be enjoyed - the bed was comfortable and the linen top quality. There was also a coffee machine in the room and a steam iron. I appreciated the decor and the art throughout the hotel and the knitted blanket on the bed was a nice touch. Breakfast is 100% made to order - no buffet with the exception of a range of breakfast juices for you to choose from. My fresh fruit salad served in a glass on my first day was disappointing and I did feed this back to the team and it was of a quality more akin to a 4 star graded hotel on the 2nd day, I also enjoyed salmon and eggs and there was gluten free toast available. Regretfully there was no dairy free yogurt and only 1 dairy free milk choice. Breakfast diners without dietary requirements do get to enjoy a more impressive offering - with pastries etc served on an 3 tier cake stand. No car park with this hotel but the location is right on Portrush Main Street and only a very short walk from a seaview and seaside walk. I got parked without a problem on a space on the Main Street - I was visiting off peak mid week January. I was staying for business and I utilised the WIFI but be prepared - regretfully there was no phone reception at all - either within the hotel itself or on the steps of the hotel and even along the Main Street. Superb service from the receptionist on arrival and throughout my stay and a shout out for the friendly waitress for my day 2 breakfast - her positive attitude was contagious and a great start to my day. Point of note: the waitress on the first day offered me a table with nice looking wooden but rather uncomfortable seats for my breakfast experience despite the restaurant being empty at the time - I did actively decline this offer and request the more luxurious and comfortable seating which was accommodated. There is one table in the window which is probably the best table with a view.
