Gluten-free test: passed! Typical Basque venue located in the city center, offers a dedicated gluten-free menu for celiacs with an excellent choice. The food is very good and the staff is extremely kind and knowledgeable about contamination issues.

Attracted by the possibility of an entire gluten-free menu (always difficult to eat local with these limitations), by the location in Plaza Vieja and the nice reviews, we went to the place, which immediately appeared quite dirty. The menu, however, seems interesting and varied, and we ordered 5 pintxos, a bacalao, and a pulpo a la gallega. The food was a disaster: pintxos on the verge of disgusting, with industrial ingredients and questionable combinations; bacalao sprinkled with a strange yellow substance, the pulpo a la gallega the worst ever: boiled potatoes unseasoned as a bed, topped with equally unseasoned octopus with a finger of paprika covering the dish + 1 liter of oil on top. Inedible. The wine was also disgusting. Do not come. Service was okay.

I want to point out this place which might be the only one in all of Bilbao offering a GLUTENFREE menu!!! By the way, it’s very tasty!!!! Unfortunately, their website doesn’t mention that they have a gluten-free menu, and in fact, looking online before coming to Bilbao, I didn’t know about the existence of this fantastic and delicious place that I stumbled upon only on the last day before leaving. Better late than never!!! I want to highlight the waiters Emmanuel and Tolozza, who are very kind and patient. TOP TOP TOP.

To all celiacs in Bilbao: INCREDIBLE. Gluten-free pintxos made to order, with an incredible variety! They prepare whatever you want with gluten-free bread (asking for at least 5) and among all the options they have, it's very hard to choose because everything looks amazing! We ordered: - Chistorra pintxo - Pintxo de Txangurro - Pintxo of goat cheese with white and dark chocolate and sun-dried tomatoes (it seems risky but truly delicious if you like to try special and innovative things!) - Barbecue chicken pintxo - Cheese and pesto pintxo The portions are very good, the patatas bravas are delicious. The waiter is very attentive and friendly. It's appreciated to have such a long GLUTEN-FREE menu where you can choose a variety of pintxos and tapas. We come from Barcelona and believe we need more places like this! A thousand thanks to the AHOAN team!

Good place for pintxos and portions in the new square. They have many gluten-free options. On the first day we had pintxos, you must order a minimum of 5 pintxos so they can make them gluten-free. To choose them, you go to the bar where they explain that they can adapt any skewer from the counter except for the battered ones and the pastries. I ordered: - Duck foie with red fruits - Goat cheese with tomato - Txangurro (the one I liked the most) - Blood pudding with pepper - Goat cheese with chocolate Everything was very good. We returned another day and tried the portions. For two people, we ordered gluten-free croquettes, aioli potatoes, and brava (the brava sauce doesn’t taste like brava sauce, it tastes like curry but it’s good) and peppers stuffed with Txangurro. It’s not cheap but everything is very good. On the terrace, they charge a 10% surcharge. They have gluten-free beer, Daura.

Celiac paradise in Bilbao!! The owner/chef has 2 celiac children, so you can let go of your fears when you enter Ahoan! It's not a 100% Gluten Free place, but they offer almost all of their pintxos gluten-free, and they cook them safely. All of his waiters, as it should be, are very aware of the procedures and conditions. This is how it tastes! We accepted the offer of pintxos with wine and thought it was a success! For the price and to try almost all of them. The bread they use is a real spectacle!! Not to mention the originality of the pintxos themselves! They were all very rich! A success without a doubt. Thanks to sites like this!
