I'm not usually one to write reviews, but this place deserves it all. I went to dinner last Sunday, a welcoming place, outstanding food, very helpful and kind staff, excellent gluten-free food, they made me feel at home, I will go back very soon🥰

La Matta is a perfect place for lovers of gourmet burgers, street food, and meat. It is located in Piazza Duomo, in the heart of Messina, which makes finding parking particularly difficult. The venue is very nice and well-branded, as everything (including the dishes offered on the menu) bears the name of La Matta or represents various elements of Sicilian playing cards. The staff is very attentive, and the menu offers several options for all tastes, showing great attention to gluten-free alternatives. We started by sharing two appetizers, one featuring bruschetta with four tasty variations, and the other an extensive selection of fried items, including: arancini, fried polenta, potato croquettes, mini mozzarella in carrozza, and sausages. The sumptuous mixed fried platter was accompanied by a generous portion of cheese fondue, which made the appetizers delicious! Each of us chose gourmet burger variations, all based on tasty ingredient combinations and quite large in size. Letizia and I had two excellent draft beers, a blonde and a red, from the Belgian brewery Mc Chouffe. The dining experience was fantastic. Unfortunately, the bill was quite expensive with no discounts (€60.25 per couple!) and the rush shown by the waitstaff to clear our table cost La Matta a point. It's a nice touch to offer complimentary items and/or discounts to customers who draw a card from the deck presented by the staff and find the "matta," i.e., the 10 of coins.

Located in the beautiful Piazza del Duomo in Messina. It offers, among other things, excellent meat dishes; we tried the hamburgers and were notably satisfied! The gluten-free option was also great... A fun game proposed by a girl from the staff who walks around the tables with a deck of cards; if you draw the joker, you don't pay for your meal. It's all true! We were among the lucky ones.... A wide and high-quality beer selection. The only downside, not attributable to the venue, is the constant passing of various characters at the outside tables trying to sell you something or simply asking for donations for various reasons! I can understand and even contribute, but more than 20 requests while eating a hamburger can become annoying.... The bill, without considering the 'won' hamburger, was on par with other similar venues. In this case, it was certainly money well spent. We will gladly return!!

A small but welcoming place both inside and outside, taken care of in the smallest details. As for the food, any comment would be superfluous: sandwiches so big that it's hard to hold them with two hands, excellent fried dishes, and wonderful arrosticini that you must absolutely try. Excellent service, very attentive to all needs, with many choices available for gluten-free, and the staff clearly points out where there might be contamination. Fantastic! 🥰🥰
