Here's what we loved about Eataly in the Financial District and what worked and what didn't: PROS: This is an absolute legit place when it comes to ingredients. I am very sensitive to dairy and gluten products in the US, but not in Italy. I specifically went out of my way to try their pizza because they claim that the mozzarella is from Naples, and the flour is imported from Italy - all true! I had no issues with my meal the next day. So, 5 stars on the ingredients - I can taste the difference! Also, a shout out to the service - from the hostess to the house manager to the associate who took our order: warm, kind, and attentive. They answered all of my questions about the ingredients. 5 stars. WHAT WAS LACKING: My partner and I were trying to figure this out... the service was great, the ambiance was lovely, the ingredients were from Italy -- but the Italian CRAFT of cooking was missing! We ordered the Roman-style and Napoli-style pizza (because we were in Rome and Naples a week ago and wanted to compare - especially since Eataly is also in Rome!). And sadly, we were disappointed in the way the crusts were made - both were tough, slightly under cooked, even though it had some char, and definitely not thin enough for the Roman style crust, and definitely not as pillow for the Napoli-style crust. Both crusts felt mass-produced (it might not have been, but the taste and quality of the crusts lacked character). Which leads us to think that even if you have great staff, a great location, and phenomenal ingredients - a restaurant needs to invest in it's people. There's so much I love about Eataly and im so grateful that they offer high quality Italian ingredients...I just hope that they put the same care into their chefs, sou-chefs, and entire kitchen staff and food production - because YOU CAN taste the difference between something as simple as a cheese pizza made by someone who has been trained in the craft of pizza making and someone who isn't. Do better, Eataly! Invest in your people!

This is my favorite place and third time I visit. I had a gluten free mushroom pasta and it was amazing. I also had the mango Gelato and I loved it. The grocery section is amazing and I wished I had more space in my luggage to buy more items

I had really high expectations of the food in this place but I was kind of disappointed - maybe I chose the wrong items to order. I had the most fancy pasta on the menu with varieties of cheeses and mushrooms and nuts - but it felt a bit bland to me - the ingredients didn’t seem happy together. My friend who got the beef pasta said she couldn’t taste the beef. The dishes had all good ingredients but it didn’t seem like a happy marriage. The best thing I had was their cappuccino and my friend liked the cannoli. Portion sizes also seemed on the smaller side. We got a fancy asparagus dish worth 13-14 dollars and there were barely 8-9 stems of asparagus and just a powder of scrambled eggs - whereas from the description it seemed like there would be atleast two poached eggs on the side. I liked the olives in olive oil though. The service was okay except we had to ask for the free bread - it wasn’t automatically kept on our table. Also our water was not refilled. This is a fancy place and for the price I expected better portions and more flavour - unfortunately I didn’t get that. This place does not serve halal. They do provide gluten and dairy free options on some of the dishes though so I thought that was nice.
