A delightful restaurant in the charming town of Saumur, run by a fresh, friendly and exceptionally talented team. Food was exquisite, with a depth of flavour and creativity the belies it's humble price-point. Perfectly paired local wines sealed the deal. Great food, great service, great cute little restaurant. Deserving of its 5 star status. The knowledgeable staff were also able to advise in French and English on gluten free options (almost everything was or could be adjusted to be GF and we saw great communication between front of house and kitchen in the topic of "sans gluten"). They took care and were happy to accommodate. The dark cracker-like thing atop my wife's lamb was a buckwheat cracker (gluten free). It disguised the amazing candied lamb shoulder beneath!! My steak was perfectly cooked and our entrees were wonderful. Dessert was a real treat too!! This place is actually worth a detour if you're staying elsewhere in the Loire... Treat yourself to a (reasonably priced) meal here and a stroll through the town and up to the castle for a fantastic view. You won't regret it!!
