Absolutely terrible experience at Pizza Express today. I went in with my 4-year-old daughter and ordered food and a drink. My daughter is lactose intolerant and had a few nuggets from McDonald’s that she was quietly nibbling on while I planned to enjoy my lunch. A staff member told me she wasn’t allowed to eat outside food, so I said that was fine and that I would just cancel my order and leave. Instead of leaving it there, the staff member followed me outside and downstairs into the lift area, demanding that I pay for a £5 drink that I had not even touched. He then went as far as calling security. It’s not about the money but the principle. I understand restaurants have policies, but I’ve been to multiple restaurants in Westfield where children are allowed to eat outside food. I was also being very discreet. What made this even worse was that my 4-year-old daughter was left very upset and shaken after a 6’4” man followed us, yelling and threatening us over a drink I hadn’t even consumed. When security arrived, they themselves said the whole situation was ridiculous and confirmed that I did not have to pay for the drink since it had not been consumed. This entire ordeal happened in front of my child and completely ruined what was supposed to be a simple lunch. The way this situation was handled felt like harassment. Following a mother and child outside and escalating the situation over an untouched drink is completely unnecessary and very unprofessional. Really disappointing experience and not how customers should be treated. I asked for the man’s name as I would like to report this incident and take it further, however he refused to give me his name.

Nous avons passé une belle journée à Stratford, Londres. Lewis était très amical et poli, et vraiment bon avec nos enfants et drôle. Le service était excellent et la nourriture était bonne, en particulier la pizza sans gluten que j'ai eue et le menu enfant était excellent, je reviendrais certainement.

Excellente expérience :) J'ai la maladie cœliaque et le restaurant a très bien pris cela en compte. J'y retournerai !

Lovely meal and our Waiter Guido was so helpful! As someone with coeliac disease it was great to be asked right at the start before taking our order if we had any dietary requirements or allergies. Made me feel very reassured.

L'application était très déroutante, mais alhamdulillah nous avons eu notre incroyable serveur Souheil pour nous aider. En tant que personne intolérante au lactose, j'apprécie qu'ils aient ajusté leurs pizzas normales pour répondre à mes besoins alimentaires, plutôt que d'être limité à commander uniquement dans leur menu vegan.
