The energy and pace of this place was off the charts on a sunny Saturday night but this added to the celebratory vibes. We came in as hangry walk-ins - my parents, carers for my disabled brother, my brother and my husband. We had spent 30 minutes trying to navigate the awful disability access of ROH for the cafe food after a few hours of walking - which was hard on my family and I ran over to the restaurant to see if they had any space to accomodate us - it was packed but the host said yes and saw I was a little stressed and was reassuringly calm - almost a 6th sense intuition of human need 😂. The staff at Balthazar took us in and cared for us and the food was 10/10. We ate off each others plates as we wanted to share how tasty our individual dishes were. My mum is a celiac - a serious allergy and was accomodated with great options. Our waiter was entertaining, informative and fun - my dad loved his chat. We all agreed we would love to return. You have huge new fans. Sincere thank you from all of us. 💫

rarely leave reviews, but I feel compelled to share my recent experience at Balthazar London — especially for anyone with dietary restrictions. Before booking, I emailed ahead to confirm that I could eat off-menu due to my strict dietary needs. I was reassured this wouldn’t be a problem. However, when we arrived, the waitress was curt and unhelpful, and I was told that ordering off-menu wasn’t possible after all. The only thing they could offer was a mix of ingredients taken from other dishes — eggs, avocado, and gluten-free bread. I repeatedly asked whether the scrambled eggs were dairy-free, and although I was assured they were, I had serious doubts when the food arrived. Still, given that I had nothing else to eat and was there with friends I hadn’t seen in years, I decided to take the risk. For £16, the meal was extremely poor: greyish gluten-free bread smeared with a little avocado and lukewarm scrambled eggs. Sadly, I felt quite unwell afterwards, which makes me think the eggs were not truly dairy-free as promised. I used to visit Balthazar around ten years ago and remember it as a vibrant, aspirational restaurant with great food and atmosphere. This experience was the complete opposite — a huge disappointment and, frankly, a cautionary tale. If you have any dietary requirements, I would strongly advise thinking twice before dining here.

Had brunch here and loved it. The service was fantastic, and they really showed care when I mentioned my lactose intolerance. The food was delicious too, had the almond waffles and it was perfect. I was super impressed when I got a call just after leaving the restaurant to inform me I'd forgotten my gloves! The staff here are lovely and I would not hesitate to go back again!
