Al Vecchio Capannaccio is a rustic Italian-style steakhouse with a beautiful, cozy atmosphere. The meat was of excellent quality and was freshly prepared on a separate grill. Although the restaurant specializes primarily in meat, homemade pasta and pizza are also offered. Since I suffer from celiac disease, I asked the service if the dishes could be prepared gluten-free. I was immediately assured that both for the meat and for the sides – such as baked potatoes and grilled vegetables – a separate workspace and grill and oven would be used to avoid contamination. I found it especially positive that the staff proactively informed me that all pasta dishes are also available in a gluten-free version. However, my personal highlight was the dessert: there was a separate fridge with a wide selection of homemade gluten-free desserts. Options included various cakes with coconut, chocolate, pistachio, or berries, as well as many other delicacies. I chose a homemade vanilla ice cream bar coated in white and dark chocolate – of course also completely gluten-free and made in-house.
