La signora alla reception aveva bisogno di aiuto perché non sapeva come comunicare con il cliente. Le ho chiesto gentilmente se parlasse inglese, dato che non posso comunicare in tedesco. Poiché non riesco a pronunciare correttamente le parole tedesche, ho puntato il dito verso il pane. Mi ha immediatamente chiesto di abbassare il dito e mi ha avvertito che è scortese puntare il dito verso il cibo. Sono una persona con pelle scura e ha anche detto che in Svizzera e in Europa di solito le persone non puntano il cibo con le mani. Avere pregiudizi è un suo problema, non mio. Tuttavia, mi sono sentito molto a disagio con il modo in cui ha gestito la situazione. Anche se puntare il cibo con il dito potrebbe essere stato un errore da parte mia, l'avrei accettato se avesse spiegato con genuina gentilezza, ma non lo ha fatto. Spero che trovi pace dentro di sé.

I'm genuinely relieved to see that you are now hiring young, attentive and kind staff. That is the only reason I decided to come back! For a long time, the owner's behavior was consistently rude, dismissive and openly unpleasant. At first, I assumed it might have been because I don't speak German or Swiss German fluently. I later realized that it wasn't about language so much, it was just the way she treats customers. I have worked in hospitality and customer service for over ten years, so I understand exactly what certain gestures and attitudes mean and I always make a conscious effort to be a respectful and uncomplicated customer. It was particularly frustrating because this is the only gluten-free bakery in Basel and for someone with celiac disease, that makes it a very important place. The products are truly excellent. You can tell that whoever is baking really knows what they're doing. The quality, flavor and texture are outstanding and it's clear that a lot of skill and care goes into the preparation. It was painful to see such good work overshadowed by such poor front-of-house treatment. Now that the service is being handled by nice people who are happy to switch languages, answer questions and treat customers with basic courtesy, I sincerely hope the business thrives. The products deserve it ❤️

Terribile e cattiva venditrice, sembra essere piena di rabbia ed emozioni represse. Mi sono sentito molto, molto a disagio. Spero che trovi un modo per guarire, non posso immaginare come ci si debba sentire ogni giorno. Il pane è buono, la pasticceria potrebbe essere migliore.

Questo è un posto bellissimo a Basilea per cibo senza glutine. Ho la celiachia e perciò mi ammalo molto se consumo glutine. La signora qui (e mi scuso, intendevo chiedere il tuo nome) è stata estremamente disponibile, gentile e ha spiegato tutto molto bene e dettagliatamente riguardo a cosa aspettarmi da ciò che conteneva il cibo. Il cibo era eccezionale - ho preso un panino e un crumble di prugne che consiglio vivamente ai miei compagni celiaci. Vi prego di visitarlo quando siete a Basilea e cercate cibo garantito senza glutine 😊. Sicuramente tornerò quando ritornerò a Basilea.

An absolute gem in Basel! As someone with celiac disease, it’s such a relief to walk into a place like Glutenfreie Köstlichkeiten GmbH and know that everything is 100% gluten-free — no stress, no worries, just total confidence that the owners and staff truly understand what that means. The young fellow who served us was so kind and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious, full of flavor and beautifully made. Prices were fair, portions generous, and we left feeling both happy and genuinely impressed. It’s rare to find a fully gluten-free bakery this good anywhere. Highly recommend, whether you’re gluten-free or not!
