This bar has a great selection of frozen gluten-free products (which are made in a small artisan laboratory in a nearby village) the staff is very nice, and if you want to find the croissant hot just right and evenly, call them five minutes before you arrive and they will have it ready for you. Some products, by the way, are not only gluten-free but also lactose-free and egg-free. Highly recommended!

Many gluten-free and vegan options, but not of great quality... they are frozen and heated in the microwave, making them soft. The croissant I had was soft on the outside and the cream inside was hard because it was still frozen... they didn't even try to serve it on a plate but directly in the plastic it was frozen in... fantastic that at least one place in Agrigento has gluten-free stuff but just a minimum... (Bathroom doesn't close, smells and has no paper) this café could be the best in Agrigento but lacks some attention.

It's Sunday, we go to the café for breakfast. I am lactose intolerant, I approach the counter and read the ingredients book of the displayed products. I am amazed that many are lactose-free! I choose a brioche and, FORTUNATELY, ask for confirmation that it was lactose-free; I am told that since it is Sunday all products contain lactose (???) and that if I want I can have the packaged cookie (gluten and lactose-free). If I hadn't asked for confirmation, I would have been very ill! This would have jeopardized the 9-hour return trip! Either you make the products the same way every time or you put up a notice that all products contain lactose on Sundays (which I still don't understand the rationale for). I also add that we had ordered 30 cannoli to take home with separated ricotta. We also paid for the crushed pistachio and chocolate chips but when we got home we found out that these two ingredients weren't included... perhaps because it was Sunday?

A great little bar in Agrigento, especially if you have some food allergies. Pros: Gluten free (also some lactose free and egg free) items from Cutia (in my opinion, the best desserts in Sicily) so everyone can enjoy a pastry at the same bar Excellent coffee (Zicaffè - second only to Illy, in my opinion) Friendly staff (they cleaned a table for us to stand at even though it was busy, and they didn’t get upset with my lack of fluency in Italian) Cons: Average Sicilian bar bathroom (lacking paper, a door lock, etc) No real seating Cutia pastries are frozen (they will warm up the cornetto or tavola calda items in the microwave) All in all, a great experience. I’d rather have a fresh pastry that was frozen a few days ago than nothing while my friends all eat. Plus, it saves me a drive to Grotte to get an exquisite desserts And it’s tough to complain about the bathroom or lack of seating when all the bars here are like that. I recommend it, and I’ll surely end up becoming a regular customer. I’ll add some photos in the future.
