Bocca | Gluten-free in Gent

Bocca is a pastabar in Ghent, within the city. I’d heard good things about their gluten-free pasta, so I wanted to try this place out for myself. The restaurant lacked atmosphere, and it felt like a ghost town. It’s obvious that they’re catered towards a to-go environment due to the touch screens as you enter the restaurant. I was originally confused about where to go and whether you could even dine in at all, and with prices costing more for dining in, you’d think they’d want to encourage it — but it appears they do not. I went for the Gluten-Free Marisol, and the pasta was actually pretty good. I would have preferred the sauce to be mixed into the pasta, as they only seemed to put it in the middle rather than cooking it through. There also wasn’t enough sauce for all the pasta, so at one point I was just sitting eating dry pasta. While the sauce was nice, it became boring fast, and I didn’t want to finish my meal. The staff seemed friendly enough, but the service wasn’t very attentive either. I would return; however, I would take my pasta to go in the future. I feel the restaurant and dining-in experience is half-hearted, even though they do have potential for sure, as the pasta itself is nice.
