They don't make cannoli with ricotta or chocolate; they make their onions without puff pastry, but with pizza dough. Bottom line: huge disappointment. I forgot they're closed on Sundays; if you want a gluten-free dessert, you'll have to give it up.

Occhio al Glutine is a small and unassuming bakery near Catania, but definitely worth a visit for anyone who needs or enjoys gluten-free food. When I went, the selection was already a bit limited later in the day, but what I tried was absolutely delicious: a sweet pastry (similar to a Sicilian-style donut) and a calzone. Both were fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. A great find for gluten-free travelers!

Great local laboratory where you can eat both hot meals and gluten-free desserts with various lactose-free options. We tried both the arancino and the tuma-broccoli schiacciata, and a good potato pizza. Everything was excellent. Very courteous staff. There is a small table outside for consumption. A great alternative for those with celiac disease, lactose intolerance, and not!

Most things are really good, the irises, the bread, various pastries and arancini. I would only reconsider the rotisserie side like schiacciate and cartocciate. The contamination is obviously very safe, especially since the owner is celiac, so he pays even more attention.

To get to the point One Monday morning, as a regular customer, I go to the shop to get breakfast and on the occasion of a party I book for the next day after 3 pieces of hot food with one of the two brothers. On the day of the pick-up of the hot food, I call in advance to confirm if they were already ready, but they reply that THERE ARE NO RESERVED ITEMS UNDER MY NAME, AND THAT WHAT I HAD REQUESTED WAS NOT READY AND THAT IF I WANTED I COULD TAKE WHAT WAS LEFT ON THE COUNTER... ABSURD! YOU DON'T WORK LIKE THIS...

It's one of the few bakeries where they don't use gluten-free flour. It's not very convenient for me to go there. They make excellent bread, fabulous almond paste, fairly good pastries, a decent scacciata, and a shamefully bad hot dish, garbage for the dog. I don't understand how one place can reach very high levels of goodness for some things and allow itself to serve authentic rubbish for the hot dishes. Safety 10 out of 10, there's no doubt about that!

I arrived pushed by the positive reviews. Iris was awful... burnt. I hardly give up eating something fresh... but I couldn't do otherwise. Besides other things. I'm sorry... I don't think I could go back.

Cleaning is okay. Kindness is okay, although a smile is not even worth paying for. The bread is good but expensive, 1 euro per roll. The food is better than Via Napoli but not as good in terms of gluten quality. Focaccia and pizza are excellent. The owner is interesting. I will return but not as a first choice.
