We stayed at Hakone Mount View for one night, and it was a wonderfully peaceful retreat. The hotel is easy to locate, though a little distant from the main Hakone area. The staff speaks decent English and were extremely hospitable—explaining the rules clearly and double-checking to make sure we understood everything. The hotel has a traditional ryokan-style feel, which added to the experience. We booked a hot spring bath, and it was incredibly relaxing—all the tiredness from our trip seemed to melt away in just one night. The bath area was peaceful, quiet, and impeccably clean. The other highlight for us was the meals. We booked a plan that included both dinner and breakfast, and this was the only hotel I could find that serves vegan and gluten-free meals. At the time of booking, we explained via email that we required one vegan meal and one vegan + gluten-free meal, and the hotel was fully aware of cross-contamination concerns. The meal spread was huge and beautifully presented—a proper Japanese kaiseki meal adapted to vegan diets. The dishes were simple but absolutely delicious, with generous portions (I couldn’t finish mine!). I would rate the meal experience 10/10, and the service staff were incredibly kind and responsive. My sister, who had the gluten-free meal, also thoroughly enjoyed hers—the dips and salad dressings were particular standouts. Simply amazing.
