A terrible place, as sloppy as its cuisine! Dishes and cutlery worn out by time, a hot slop served as fish soup, accompanied by processed cheese and a dubious hot sauce... not to mention the broken bathroom and the leaking sink... we will never return! Highly not recommended!

On the recommendation of a friend from Piombino, we decided to have lunch at this restaurant, located in the pedestrian area of the historic center, a few steps from the town hall. Although it is in the heart of the tourist area, the restaurant is very welcoming, with soft lighting that creates an intimate atmosphere. We were immediately greeted by a kind lady who showed us to the table we had reserved, explained how to order, and specified that the dishes available were based exclusively on the catch of the day. There are appetizers with 4 or 8 tastings, first courses of which you can also order 2 or 3 tastings, and second courses of which 2 tastings are available. The rest of the menu consists of the wine list, the most extensive I have ever seen, with wines from every region and even from other countries, both European and non-European. For the appetizers, we chose the option with 8 samples (4 cold and 4 hot), and the cold dishes were immediately brought to our table, including salt cod with garlic mayonnaise, longfin tuna with eggplant cream, ombrina carpaccio, and octopus salad, each one more delicious than the last. Next, we were served the hot appetizers, with fried swordfish, ray with savoy cabbage, baby octopus with purple cabbage, and clams in sauce, and these also impressed us with the flavor of the fish and the combinations offered. The dishes are served while supplies last, depending on the quantity available, and may vary during the meal. For example, our neighbors were served cuttlefish and chickpeas instead of baby octopus, and another table was served crostini with fish roe. After the appetizers, we ordered two first courses to share, which I ended up eating all by myself since my partner was already full. We opted for spaghetti with lupini beans and pistachio cream and zuppa corsa, their specialty. the latter being very unusual in its preparation, with croutons placed at the bottom of the plate, then sprinkled with a special sauce (made with mayonnaise, sun-dried tomatoes, and chili pepper) and cheese, and finally topped with the soup. For my main course, I ordered Calamari alla Diavola and, as simple as it is, it was the dish that impressed us the most, with a preparation that brings out the best in the freshness of the catch. As soon as my partner tasted it, her appetite was awakened and she demanded half a portion, ending up mopping up the delicious sauce with bread, with its spicy note. To finish, we chose to share a babà with ricotta cream and mandarin compote for dessert, which also stood out for the quality of the ingredients used, and we ended up regretting not ordering one each. The glass of wine we had with our meal was also excellent, a still white from the area made with Vermentino and other native grapes, as was the coffee served at the end of the meal. Every single aspect of the lunch was perfect, including the table service with friendly, professional waiters who were ready to meet the needs of their customers, always asking about any allergies, intolerances, or unwanted ingredients. A simple yet wonderful culinary experience, definitely worth every penny; the next time I find myself in Piombino or the surrounding area, I already know where to go to eat.
