Cozy place in the center. Excellent service. We had a local gluten-free beer that was really great, almost all desserts were gluten-free, I had the pistachio tiramisu (not the best, but there were many options). Negatives? Cold pizza, seemed frozen... Choice? Mmmh, I was often told that they couldn't make that gluten-free product for me even though the symbol was next to it on the menu. Fried foods? Nonexistent when there's a symbol. Burgers? Can only choose the classic one... For being a certified place, I had high expectations, but oh well.

A lovely place located in a square in the historic center. Pizza with a handmade base, prepared in their workshop, quickly chilled and topped at the moment with quality ingredients. The hamburger is also good, served with baked potatoes.

Good morning, I had a super tasty sandwich, but the pizza is not that excellent; it can be improved. They don't make gluten-free fried foods. My suggestion: make all fried foods gluten-free and you will satisfy both gluten-free customers and others.

pizza and other things to eat!

Good gluten-free pizzeria with various options including pasta, too bad it didn't have fries without contamination.

I will try to make a review as honest and balanced as possible. Starting from the assumption that I came on a Saturday night, which might be a peak time. We had a table reserved for six, and as soon as we arrived, there was a sizeable crowd outside. We entered and were immediately greeted in a somewhat brusque manner: we were asked to step outside without even being given the chance to say the name of the reservation. Waiting outside isn’t a problem, but being yelled at as if it’s the norm wasn’t nice. Perhaps it would be helpful to put up a sign outside so people know how to behave. I don’t want to blame the staff because, understandably, the layout of the venue (which is nobody’s fault) doesn’t help; the entrance is narrow, and during the transition time (around 9 PM), there’s a wave of people coming in and out, tables at the door, and waiters with trays full of food and drinks. So I completely understand the general frustration and the need to wait outside, but with the rain and so many people outside, it wasn’t an ideal situation... maybe leaving an umbrella open would have been better. We managed to get in, and the waitress apologized (which was greatly appreciated) and seated us outside. If you are adults, I recommend asking not to be seated outside when making a reservation. We didn’t know this, but that’s where larger tables are often placed, often made up of children and youngsters. The chaos was overwhelming; we couldn’t even speak to each other without yelling. After 20 minutes of deciding what to order, we were kindly asked to move (very politely). We were really about to lose our patience because at this point, we had been there for over an hour (between waiting outside and inside) when we were relocated to an indoor room. Here, the evening took a decidedly better turn: the interior of the venue is calm and very nice. The waiters who then took care of us were extremely kind and quick in taking our orders and serving us. The food was EXCEPTIONAL! Especially the gluten-free options, everything was really tasty. Therefore, despite the somewhat "stormy" beginning, my overall evaluation is more than positive, and I will definitely return to this venue. I hope what I’ve written can be a point of reflection for the venue to improve the organization on busy nights! Having done this work, I understand that managing many people isn’t easy. But I reiterate that between the staff and the food, I left satisfied! Moreover, the prices were more than fair.

Characteristic place, sarcasm, and personality from the menu to the service. Good food, varied menu, gluten-free and lactose-free dishes available.

We recently visited Pizzeria Mara Meo San Francesco and we were thrilled! Everyone participated in the pizza tour, and the experience was fantastic. Moreover, they are very attentive to dietary needs: there was a celiac boy in our group and they prepared a gluten-free pizza for him. The quality of the pizzas was excellent and the service very friendly. A welcoming atmosphere, perfect for an evening with friends. Absolutely recommended!

Super service, very attentive to intolerances and allergies, the menu includes lactose-free and gluten-free options. Excellent quality hamburgers, the pizza is good too. A perfect place for dinner but also for a birthday, the internal garden is very nice, and there’s a TV for games. Well done!!!

I would like to preface that this review comes from my personal experience. Usually, I have always eaten well there. In this case, I’m not talking about this pizzeria but the other one (perhaps opened for Lucca Comics 2019). I had forgotten to review my experience but now I remembered it. The venue is registered with AIC, it was pouring rain, I was hungry and I asked for a gluten-free pizza. They couldn’t make it because there had been a lot of people and the pizza maker couldn’t do it due to the clear contamination in the kitchen. They wouldn’t make it. Even saying that I would wait for a clean-up of the work area, they didn’t want to make it for me.. but if you are with AIC (and I remember well the AIC tag on the door) you should have two separate kitchens or at least two distant areas to handle gluten-free dishes. That day I had planned my whole day and instead I returned to Florence without eating. CONGRATULATIONS.

We booked at Mara Meo because it is a pizzeria that also offers gluten-free options. We had strong doubts about the hospitality, punctuality, and pizza because we had booked for 31/12 for the third shift at 10:30 PM. However, everything went well. Courtesy, punctuality, attention to gluten-free needs, cleanliness, and decent pizza. The gluten-free one was a bit overcooked. Excellent selection of craft beers and others. Recommended. Gluten free.

The food is okay, but I asked for gluten-free pork twice and couldn't get it because both times they told me it wasn't available. They have a few outdoor tables, but there's only one person serving who does everything. If you need something to drink, I had the white soda and the glass was big. If you don’t expect too much, you can go there, but since they didn’t have the pork, I settled for mushroom pizza, and when it arrived, there were only two little mushrooms and the pizza was mostly tomato. I had been there before, but this time it was a real disappointment!
