Great place! For gluten-free, you can choose anything on the menu. The venue is also very nice, spacious, and has good music. Friendly and helpful staff.

good gluten-free pizza downtown Trieste.

Spectacular. Everything gluten free. The best I have ever tried. Certified gluten free. 10 out of 10. Natali and Cecilia amazing hosts. They are great and helped us decide what we wanted. They have gluten free beer from Italy. Keep in mind they close from 3pm to 6:30pm.

I ordered the carbonara and it was tasty. My friends ordered pizzas, one of which was gluten free, I was pleasantly surprised by the dough, since it was so fluffy and soft. The pizzas were incredible, everybody was very happy with their food. If you are searching for gluten free food, this is most defenitly the place to visit, since they really care for people with dietary restrictions. The staff is incredibly friendly and very helpful with the menus, the ambient was lovley.

The tempeh with edamame is amazing and a great source of protein. The vegan mozzarella is one of the best I’ve ever had. It’s overall a great place for vegan food and for students who get a discount on their lunch. I have not tried the gluten free options but they take this seriously, too with many options and a separate oven.

Delicious and certified pizza, highly recommended!

One of the best restaurants of the year! The place is really beautiful, the interiors are striking and well organized. The service was really quick, polite, and helpful. But let's move on to the menu: wide, inclusive, and diverse. You can choose from focaccias, pizzas, pasta, main courses (including vegan), sides, appetizers, and poke. We ordered a focaccia with artichoke cream, gluten-free Margherita pizza, fried polenta cubes, and gluten-free pumpkin tempura, Treviso pizza, and a chocolate dessert (vegan & gluten-free). Everything is incredibly good, with quality ingredients and truly unique combinations. Additionally, there was also a shelf with children's books, which was much appreciated. I absolutely recommend it!!

Good food but little safety and attention to detail. Nice location. I still recommend it.
5
Trendy and youthful atmosphere, pizza with excellent ingredients. The desserts are good. It's advisable to book on weekends.
4
A very varied menu with many GF options, others lactose-free, etc. The food is not spectacular but it is very good. You can tell that the ingredients are of high quality. Pizza with their own dough, not the classic Neapolitan style but good, it makes you want to eat it.
5
the pizzas are delicious. gluten-free dough made by them, tasty and light. dedicated SG cuisine.
5
Very nice and welcoming environment. Many interesting options on the menu, great for accommodating vegan and gluten-free friends as well. You can feel the quality of the ingredients. The only downside was the long wait: for us, a group of 7 people, it was almost an hour (long considering that the restaurant was barely a third full).

Great pizza, very nice place in the center of Trieste

On a trip to Trieste, we chose Melograno for a dinner that could recharge us. The menu is very rich and we were able to eat a calamari fry for celiacs. The pizza (porcini mushrooms and buffalo mozzarella) was very good, especially the dough, and the service was attentive and fast. Rating 5

In a central street of Trieste, you can find tables on the sidewalk and a friendly girl welcoming you with a smile, introducing you to her dishes. This restaurant has all natural ingredients, km 0, and most importantly, a wide range of certified gluten-free products! The pizza is truly fabulous, as are the various vegan and non-vegan products. A really nice and positive note is the gluten-free bread that the waitress kindly offered us (always with a smile), just to let us know about their flagship product! In short, a highly recommended place with plenty of friendliness (which is always appreciated during these times)!

Very attractive environment. The vaults are made of bricks with the presence of two very imposing stone arches. Food is prepared with care, gluten-free or other allergens. The service is a bit slow but tolerable. There is no way to park nearby; you can only reach the restaurant on foot. The price for a pizza is quite high, but considering the ingredients, it is ultimately acceptable.
4
Pleasant environment with good service. The menu is interesting and unusual. Wide selection of dishes, especially for lactose-free and gluten-free options. High-quality, top-notch ingredients. Fair price for the quality of the products but not for the quantity, as some dishes were more like tastings than full portions.
5
Wide selection and not just gluten-free pizza. The selection of desserts is also good. Perfect!

One of the best fried fish dishes I've ever eaten. I knew this restaurant for the quality of its products and the care for those with particular dietary needs or celiac disease. Years ago, I had a pizza, which, despite the good ingredients, did not satisfy me. However, the other day for lunch, I had a fried fish that was really very good. In summer, it's possible to eat outside in the open air.

We dined in this place on Saturday evening, booking the second shift (9:15 PM). Unacceptable wait times; it took over an hour before we were served. Even though we were only a party of four, we couldn’t dine together, as the first pizza arrived alone, followed 10 minutes later by the second, and another 10 minutes after that, the last two. The pizza I had, a high-rise dough with pumpkin and guanciale, was half burnt, as you can see in the photo. In another situation, I would have politely asked for it to be redone, but considering the biblical wait times, I thought it was better to just eat what I had by 10:50 PM (which still cost 16€... and I’d say that the one I had wasn’t worth it at all). I realize that Saturday evenings are more challenging for a restaurant to keep up with the demands, but what left me most dissatisfied was the total indifference of the staff, who didn’t even apologize for the delay while serving us nor offered us a slice of bread or a couple of breadsticks to tide us over. When we finally got to the cash register, we were directly told the bill, without anyone asking if everything was okay (perhaps the answer was obvious? Nevertheless, it’s not justifiable behavior). In light of this, we asked if we could at least receive a discount given the poor service, and we were given a miserable 10% off. As I said before, it's possible that one evening nothing goes right, but it is unacceptable for a restaurant not to care about the customer at all: a simple gesture like offering a digestif at the end of the meal while apologizing for the delay, or having the discount be offered spontaneously by the restaurant, or some other minor courtesy of this kind would have made the experience completely different. I am thankful that Trieste is full of excellent pizzerias and that this is not the only gluten-free one, because I definitely will not be returning here.

I visited this place because it has a good selection of vegan options, both pizzas and first courses, as well as a vegan dessert. In the menu, vegan foods are marked with an orange dot, but gluten-free and vegetarian options are also available, etc. I had a drink with ginger kombucha, followed by a vegan pasta called caserecce del bosco, and then a vegan chocolate dessert similar to Sacher. There are also more vegan pizzas on the menu. Prices are average considering we are in the city center, just a stone’s throw from the main square. The place is also quite spacious, suitable for those visiting with children. I would go back.
5
gluten-free and lactose-free pizza that is light and tasty. I will definitely be back!
4
Good pizza but not the best. Wide range of gluten-free options from appetizers to desserts.

I have been there several times and I must say I am quite confused by this place. The menu is great with allergens easy to identify, and there is a wide range of dishes for different dietary needs, but I didn't find much more than that. The first time I ordered a salad, but they didn't have the mixed greens and only brought arugula; the second time I had a pizza, but it was literally overcooked. In short, it's a decent place to eat something alternative in the city, but nothing special.
5
Very attentive to gluten-free options, well done! The pizza is very good, and you absolutely have to try their cocktails too!!
5
The restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere and the staff is kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. As for the gluten-free dishes, practically all of those on the menu are available. For the pizza (I must say it is very good), there is a dedicated oven for gluten-free. Definitely recommended.

Very nice place. Central location. Fast service. Excellent gluten-free pizza. Recommended.
5
Great for celiacs, highly recommended place
4
very attentive to gluten-free options and use natural products and natural flours for the pizzas. Highly appreciated.

For me, a certainty in Trieste. Sometimes the service is slow, but the variety of the menu makes up for the wait.

Great. In our experience in Trieste, we always had dinner here. Beautiful venue, lovely staff, and delicious food. Great choice, especially for gluten-intolerant people. The only downside is that on the menu there is always a particular dessert labeled as NEW, but in reality, during the 4 days we ate there, it was never available 😅

Gluten: uuuuhhh, what a nasty surprise! I usually avoid making negative comments and limit myself to sharing positive experiences. In this case, I have to make an exception. One person at my table is celiac. After clarifying multiple times that they are celiac, they placed their order. When the pizzas arrived (quickly, to be fair), the celiac person was brought a pizza. Before receiving it, they asked, "Is it gluten-free?" The response was: "Yes." Are we sure? "Yes." One pizza was still missing, but we started eating. The celiac person took a slice of theirs and stopped: they noticed that the plate of their pizza had the same color as everyone else's. They were about to ask again if they were sure they had delivered the gluten-free pizza they ordered when the last pizza arrived, THE GLUTEN-FREE ONE! Fortunately, there were no immediate allergic reactions (asymptomatic celiac disease). There was no scene made because, by then, the damage was done. What I feel I need to say is that when a place caters to celiacs, it’s not enough to have a sophisticated production process, with separate preparation areas and ovens. The owner must ensure that the waitstaff are well aware that they are bringing to the table something as dangerous as poison. In this case, the awareness was lacking.

The pizza arrived on time, but the order was wrong (ordered two gluten-free pizzas and received two normal ones). Called the restaurant, which blamed the delivery guy for the wrong order. I was told they would remake the pizza and send it back to me as soon as possible. In record time, the correct pizza arrived, but unfortunately, it was cold and chewy. Most likely, they had given me the pizza that was waiting on the counter for half an hour before. This is the second time the delivery service has been, to say the least, disappointing. Update on 09/17/2021. The owner of the place immediately offered to understand better what had happened and to apologize, she gave me a voucher for two gluten-free pizzas. Last night we decided to go directly to the restaurant to eat pizza, and as always, the quality of the offered products is exceptional. As for the service, I can't judge it poorly, but we chose a rainy weeknight. We will definitely return to delight our taste buds with their exceptional quality products.

Restaurant with a capital "R"! We visited at noon when the place wasn’t too crowded, so I can’t comment on the service during peak hours. Il Melograno is well-maintained both outside and inside the plate. Excellent raw materials and tantalizing cuisine put taste first among satisfied senses. However, the sense of smell, sight, hearing, and touch are also very well treated with the added bonus of excellent courtesy at the table. Great attention to celiac disease and lactose intolerance means that everyone can choose without too many compromises here. Practically the entire menu can be served gluten-free or lactose-free. Cleanliness and a vague but pleasant feeling of home further enhance the experience. Honest prices for the service received, we will definitely return.

Superlative. Attention to allergies and intolerances, along with quality products, creates an absolutely winning mix. Buckwheat crepes and fried fish (with corn flour) are amazing, just like the pizza with a crispy and light dough at the same time. If only there were places like this in every city...

Attracted by the positive reviews, we decided to give a chance to Melograno, a restaurant that focuses on its menu accessible to the most (gluten-free, lactose-free, etc.). Unfortunately, the adventure did not start well; despite having a reservation, the staff began to behave suspiciously until they invited us to have an aperitif while we waited. Probably our table was lost. However, we were given a privileged spot in the "private lounge" as compensation (highly recommended for an intimate dinner among friends). We ordered two classic Margherita pizzas, with a light and unique crust, a wholemeal flavor. Not bad, but not great either. The wines had a green aftertaste, probably due to their organic origin, but not the best. Overall, the quality is decent; however, the waiting times and lack of real professionalism from the staff do not allow the customer to feel satisfied. We won’t return, but for once, if you are curious, the experience can be worth it.

Many had spoken well of it to me, so one Sunday my friend and I decided to try it for lunch. What can I say... the place has been beautifully renovated, with exposed stone and large, high vaulted ceilings, featuring a kitchen and two ovens, well separated but in clear view for those who are celiac and those who are not, with a fun faux wall to look at. The venue is very airy and bright. We ordered crepes and mixed fried food. The crepes were delicious, delicate, soft, and very tasty. My mixed fried dish was light, not greasy, and fragrant, the fish really varied and good, accompanied by fried and crunchy carrots and red turnips. Delicious. Then we couldn't resist, and especially I was tempted by a vegan chocolate and apricot cake, with vanilla sauce and cream. Exquisite, not too sweet, and the chocolate was really noticeable. The waiting time was perfect for us to acclimate, browse the plates of nearby diners, and exchange a few words. The waiter was extraordinarily polite and friendly. I will return because it truly left a wonderful impression on me.

A beautiful restaurant/pizzeria that stands out for the quality of the ingredients. The pizza is very good and carefully crafted in terms of flavors and ingredients. The very light dough is excellent, and the place pays particular attention to those who cannot consume gluten, offering a wide selection of gluten-free dishes cooked in a separate section to minimize the risk of contamination. The same can be said for lactose, as there is rice mozzarella available. The choice of beers is broad (unfortunately, many are bottled and few on draft). Honest prices in a friendly and pleasant atmosphere, as the venue is very bright and well-kept, and the waiters are kind and friendly.

Lunch with friends, we decided to go to Melograno since it seems to satisfy everyone in terms of different tastes and intolerances. Located in a great spot, the restaurant looks good, with two pizza cooking areas (certified for celiacs) and two floors with simple yet elegant tables. The waiter who accompanied us to the table offered us an aperitif based on pomegranate or artichokes (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). The menu has a wide variety of choices: from frico, to pumpkin puree, local platter, red beet gnocchi, vegetables, in short, a plethora of options! A special note goes to the pizzas made with semi-wholemeal dough and prepared with pomegranate yeast to make them lighter. There are also gluten-free pizzas that deserve to be tasted because they are real pizzas and not biscuits or focaccias as often found in other places. The toppings have endless combinations, from classic to special, including vegan options with rice mozzarella! As far as I am concerned, I was very satisfied and will definitely return.

Well-furnished locale, very welcoming and bright. The menu offers organic products and many gluten-free options. The gluten-free pizza is one of the best I've tried in Trieste: very flavorful and with a dough very similar to normal pizzas! The locale is AIC certified and has a separate oven for the preparation of these dishes. I will definitely return!

I have already been to this new restaurant in the city center twice. The place is very spacious, bright, welcoming, and has a nice open kitchen. We ordered pizzas, appetizers, and first courses, all excellent and well presented. The strong point of this restaurant is their pizzas, accommodating any intolerance or preference and rich in quality ingredients. The staff was always kind and punctual. Highly recommended!

The Pomegranate is welcoming, bright, and has superior interior design with very relaxing pastel colors. The pomegranate theme is present in every aspect. The kitchen uses only organic products and offers gluten-free and lactose-free options. There is a large window where you can see the chef at work! The menu features delicious pizzas with doughs that truly surprised me, as well as a menu of land and sea dishes; The waiters were very kind and helpful. There is also a well-stocked bar. Recommended.

New restaurant, very nice and well-kept. I have already been to the one in Palmanova and I must say that you can be sure about both the pizzas and the cuisine. The staff is new and young, attentive to the customer's needs. Finally, they offer the possibility for those intolerant to gluten and lactose to enjoy a very good gluten-free pizza. To be tried!
