All ice creams are labeled as gluten-free, but unfortunately the cones are not. I had kindly asked what flavor had a clean new tub, not yet contaminated. They pointed me to the flavor "nivera", their iconic cream, which I would have been happy to try. To simplify things, I chose only that flavor, paid, and ordered a cup with only uncontaminated nivera cream. At the moment of being served, the worker, who had just touched the gluten cone of the previous customer: - did not wash her hands - took a new scoop but served the ice cream from the same tub as the previous customer, thus contaminated - I pointed out that that flavor is no longer safe for someone like me with celiac disease - began a little show of grimaces and criticisms accompanied by some nervousness and treated me as if my concern was an exaggeration and my request a whim - the owner intervened treating me with some condescension and offering me an alternative flavor, which at this point I "chose" In short, not exactly the light experience that a summer ice cream should promise! My suggestion for this ice cream shop is to invest a little more in information regarding the handling of food intolerances and allergies and in professionalism in customer service, because in this way, the great marketing work that is evidently behind it risks being compromised. Gelateria in the center of Scicli awarded by Gambero Rosso. Great variety of flavors and attention to cross-contamination. The owners point out which flavors are indeed free from contamination, but the choice remains very wide. All granitas are gluten-free as well. Exquisite ice cream.
