very nice place a few steps from the Vatican, excellent gluten-free pizza.
5
Great! Very fast service and well-prepared, very kind staff. I had the montanare and crocchè, truly exceptional!
4
Excellent gluten-free pizza on par with regular, certified venue, always very crowded; I recommend going early at 12 PM, otherwise you risk having to wait in line.
4
Very good pasta. I recommend trying the one with Roman guanciale. AMATRICIANA. We also tried the Bolognese, but it has nothing to do with the previous one. The desserts are gluten-free. We tried SCUGNIZZIELLI WITH NUTELLA, a showstopper. In Spain, we go to the big Neapolitan and this surpasses it by a thousand.
5
Great! The whole menu is gluten-free and there is really a wide selection of various fried dishes, bruschettas, first courses with pasta, pizzas, and desserts. I recommend it!
4
The entire menu is completely gluten-free! A good quality tourist spot.

100 with honors

I went to this place thanks to the positive reviews I read, and I can say that I agree with all of them! My friends and I ordered takeout pasta in different flavors, all of which were super delicious. Moreover, there is no extra charge for gluten-free options. The venue is beautiful, and the staff is super kind and helpful. Highly recommended!
4
A cheerful and nice place where the entire menu is available gluten-free. I tried the fried dish: montanarina, fagottino, arancino, potato croquette: all tasty but a bit too greasy. Very close to St. Peter's Square!
4
Good proposal with a classic menu entirely replicable in a gluten-free version, pizzas included.
2
The spaghetti was undercooked, and little bit hard to eat. Moreover, the pizza margherita had tomato sauce which was flavorless. Both dishes were gluten free.
3
The entire menu is also available gluten-free! The pizza dough is a bit chewy but overall good!
3
gluten-free menu, fully adaptable; also lactose-free
5
I absolutely love this place! The gluten-free pizza is the best I’ve ever had it tasted just like a regular one. My husband also loved the "normal" gluten pizza.
3
We ordered two gluten-free pizzas and they were delicious. The problem is that when we arrived, they told us they would seat us after 20 minutes. After 40 minutes we were still outside in line, meanwhile the restaurant had emptied but they didn't let us in, which was very frustrating. In the end, we were seated at the table after 50 minutes. If they had said from the beginning that the wait would be long, it would have definitely been better. It seems to me that there is simply very little staff to manage all those people.
5
After having been there twice and trying pasta, pizza, and even their gluten-free dough (made by them, indistinguishable from a gluten pizza), I can say that everything is delicious. The staff working there are very kind and the selection is very broad even for celiacs because they have a separate kitchen.
5
We had a fantastic experience here! My wife and I stopped in for dinner, I ordered the Cacio de Pepe, and my wife had the gluten free Margherita pizza. The staff were friendly, attentive, and they genuinely cared about allergies, which put us at ease. The food was outstanding. My pasta was delicious, and the gluten-free pizza was a mimic of its gluten cousin, honestly hard to tell the difference! Highly recommend if you are in the Vatican area. It’s allergy-friendly with a great atmosphere.
3
Good food, but there's a risk of contamination. I was sick all night.
4
My friends and I chose this restaurant because, as a gluten allergic person, I was looking for a place that is part of the AIC circuit where I could eat safely. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there is an entire gluten-free menu. I had potato croquettes and a gricia. Both were excellent. My friends were also very satisfied with the quality of their dishes. The only downside is that you cannot make a reservation, but the wait to get in is not excessive and definitely worth it.
5
We had read conflicting reviews and concerns about possible contamination from the other place at Ponte Milvio, but we ate very well and my wife, who is celiac, had no symptoms. The waiters were helpful and kind; you need to fill out the paper menu and order at the cash register when you pay the bill. You can't make reservations, but the service was very quick. We'll be back!!
5
from appetizers to pasta, everything completely gluten-free. great experience, I always come back!
4
Quiet place, we ate well even gluten-free. Friendly and helpful staff.

After visiting the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, we stopped here, given the proximity, to enjoy a typical dish of Roman cuisine: rigatoni alla gricia. We chose this place because it offers the entire menu in a gluten-free version as well, which is truly an opportunity not to be missed! We ordered a gluten-free gricia (€14) and a classic version (€14) for my girlfriend. I appreciated that there was no price difference between the two options — it’s the first time this has happened to me! Both dishes were good and well-balanced (a small tip: taking out the gluten-free pasta a moment earlier would make it perfect). The place is quite touristy, with a constant flow of people, but we were seated promptly, and the wait for the pasta was about 20 minutes, which is entirely normal. Another positive point: no cover charge. One negative note: payment is made at the time of ordering, which I personally do not like very much. Overall, a good experience, especially recommended for those looking for gluten-free options near the Vatican Museums.
5
Delicious pizza!!! The dough is made by them. We also had the arancino, and I’d say it was excellent. It's also part of the AFC circuit, so safety standards are verified! Honest prices for being in the center of Rome.
5
Very nice and welcoming place, friendly and helpful staff. The food was delicious, both gluten and gluten-free (the gluten-free buffalo pizza was really good), the prices are fair (10-20€ per person).
5
Nice place a stone's throw from St. Peter's Square. Friendly staff, really good food, gluten-free options equal to gluten options. Separate kitchens. Highly recommended for coeliacs... and not!!
5
Cute place just a stone's throw from St. Peter's Square. Friendly staff, really good food, gluten-free options equal to those with gluten. Separate kitchens. Highly recommended for celiacs... and others too!!

This is heaven for gluten-free dieters, especially celiacs, as this restaurant is celiac-accredited. You can safely eat everything on the menu, including desserts. They also have gluten options — pizza and pasta. It's not uncommon to find fried octopus and squid, which were really nice. Unfortunately, I have to subtract two stars for the bathroom. It was in a bad condition - mess, one toilet clogged. Doorknob on the floor - I had to ask someone to hold the doors for me as they keep sliding 🙁
5
I am a big fan of Mama Eat. When I want to eat well and choose between Neapolitan and Roman gluten-free dishes, this is my favorite place. The location in Borgo Pio is delightful, the service is always kind and fast, and I don't know how they manage it since it's a tourist area, so just for that they deserve 5 stars! The food is divine; I love everything. This time I enjoyed a super gluten-free margherita and scugnizzelli, plus graffette for dessert (which I shared, but sparingly!😅). My expression of delight was such that the Americans at the next table asked me what I was eating, and I explained the recipe to them. I think I convinced them!
5
Everything was truly excellent! Delicious food, friendly and fast service, average prices, and 100% gluten-free safety, AIC badge present at the entrance of the venue. Definitely worth a return visit 😊
5
incredible! the pizza and croquettes were delicious, even my boyfriend who is not celiac liked them! that says a lot
5
Very pleasant atmosphere just a stone’s throw from the Vatican. Gluten-free pizza and tiramisù are truly delicious. The service is handled with care, kindness, and graciousness by Melania, Medi, and Lorenzo. The team, all very young, is professional. Enjoying a great pizza in the center of Rome is a plus. A must-try!
4
For those looking for gluten-free options in the Piazza S.Pietro area, there’s Mama Eat. We already knew about it because they also have a location in Milan. The croquettes and Supplì are a must-try, but in general, the other snacks are also good.
4
The ideal place to eat gluten-free without worries. Wide culinary selection, particularly interesting and tasty dishes (mamaeat croquettes) available not only in a "gluten-free" version. Prices appropriate for the quality offered.
3
I had dinner at this place a week ago. We ordered everything gluten-free, but I suspect that either the waiter did not pass the order correctly or there was some contamination because I've been feeling unwell since that evening. I should mention that I haven't eaten at any other place either before or after.
4
one of the few restaurants where any celiac can feel at ease. The dishes are all completely gluten-free and it is almost impossible to notice the difference from those with gluten.
5
A completely gluten-free place. Delicious dishes from pizza, to carbonara to sandwiches!!! The only downside is the tight spaces, but for the food, it's really worth it!!
3
compared to Mamaeat in Trastevere, this is inferior, very small venue, somewhat apathetic staff, and during the table service they did not highlight which was gluten-free (causing a bit of anxiety😅).
4
very good food, excellent service, and very friendly staff
5
We found this little place near St. Peter's. We were lucky to find a table for 5 because the room is very small, but the goodness of the preparations in an EXCLUSIVELY gluten-free kitchen would have made even a long wait worthwhile. The mixed fried vegetables, montanara, and panzerotto are satisfying and uplift the spirit. A must-stop if you're in the area and hungry, as it has continuous hours.
5
Excellent! A delight, all exclusively gluten-free. We had the carbonara, pistachio arancini, and nutella scugnizzielli. The dessert was exceptional. Friendly staff. Ernesto welcomed us with charm and friendliness.
5
Finding something GLUTEN-FREE is already a lot, a place where everything is even gluten-free is wonderful!! Then considering it's next to the Vatican and the prices are average, it's perfect. The pizza is good, the pasta and desserts too. The fried fish wasn't the best, but everything else was good. A small but very welcoming place.
5
top!!!
5
Not a very large place (maximum 30 covers) that presents itself quite well. The spaces are a bit tight. The staff is welcoming and professional. All dishes are gluten-free (other Mama Eat locations have dual kitchens, this one has only a gluten-free kitchen due to space reasons), but I challenge anyone to notice the difference. The pizza is very good, more of a "Neapolitan" style. Also try the meatballs with ragù accompanied by friarielli (I highly recommend them, they taste like "grandma's") and the artichoke (exceptional). Prices are somewhat medium-high, but the quality is there and noticeable, as well as the care in preparation. No cover charge. The service is halfway: orders are taken at the register, but courses are served at the table and also, of course, cleared. Highly recommended, we will return. I strongly recommend making a reservation in advance if you decide to eat on-site, with the possibility of takeout.

top!

Discovered by chance during today’s visit to San Pietro. Having a celiac son, it was mandatory to visit it and it was a surprise. The place is not big, it has the dimensions of a classic culinary laboratory, simply furnished, minimalist, and clean. The staff, very kind and helpful, welcomes you and attends to you from the moment you enter. It is advisable to book in advance. In our party of four, we ordered: 1 x 25 cm arancino (it’s linear, not the classic shape of Sicilian arancino); 1 x M'ama crocché; 1 x carbonara; 1 x amatriciana; 1 x cheese meatballs; 2 x water; 2 x tiramisu; 1 x gluten-free beer. The total cost, 112 €, is fair: the quality of the ingredients is high and the taste of the dishes is truly excellent, just like the best gluten versions with generous portions. An experience to repeat with a non-Christmas menu, highly recommended for those with celiac family members: seeing my son enjoy his meal in a restaurant was the Christmas gift.
5
Completely gluten-free establishment, fantastic fried foods, friendly and helpful staff.
5
good good good! Nothing more can be said! The sweets are a spectacle for the soul!
4
Menu with few but interesting dishes. Fried fish and pizza are delicious!
4
Everything is delicious, even though I preferred it in Street Food version, their fried cones to eat while walking are unforgettable. It's still a great place.
4
The only downside? The place is small, so I recommend making a reservation! Mama Eat is famous for its croquettes and arancini that are 25 cm long. The croquettes are highly recommended; they are delicious, flavorful, and have a divine breading! The pizza is also great! The fried bomboloni with Nutella are good! The pastries also seemed very enticing to me!
2
The place is really tiny and the tables are stacked on top of each other, making it difficult to pass between them. Besides this certainly negligible flaw, the strong point of this place is that everything is gluten-free. This means that I, too, for once, was able to taste other dishes and share an appetizer. Sharing is caring 🫶🏻 However, the carbonara is diluted and very little "Roman". Moreover, there were evident differences in the portions of the dishes: a service I do not accept considering the salty bill (saltier than the guanciale) that we had to pay. In short, if I didn't find anything else in the area, I would return; otherwise, I would head towards some other option.
5
the paradise for celiacs. I enjoyed all of Roman cuisine without worries!!!
5
everything gluten-free amazing pizza and fried foods!
5
Everything was exceptional, especially the fried dishes!
5
Simply exceptional! Everything was delicious: the first courses, second courses, and especially the bread! The staff was very kind and knowledgeable. A must-stop for anyone in Rome.
5
fabulous fried foods and exceptional gluten-free pizza. The heaven for celiacs!😍
5
Great place to enjoy gluten-free treats. Soft and tasty montanare and the sandwiches are truly excellent! Highly recommended.
3
I should preface this by saying that I discovered I am celiac three months ago at almost 50 years old, so my taste and expectations have been shaped by "normal" foods. That said, I tried Mama Eat with a strong craving for fried foods. I ordered two dishes: - mixed fried: the vegetables were over-fried and cut too thin, creating an unpleasant burnt effect. The rest was average. - fried cod with fries and zeppole: the cod was good while the zeppole seemed to be cooked poorly. In general, the feeling was that the oil was a bit tired. It was a terrible idea to serve the fried foods in a small pan: they need space to breathe and a wide plate. The pizzas that passed by looked good, but of course, I didn't try them.
5
Renovated venue, very very friendly staff, and everything is gluten-free... a true delight for the eyes and the palate. The fried items, both savory and sweet, are spectacular. Highly recommended for everyone, both celiacs and non-celiacs.
5
Great gluten-free pizza.. quick service and friendly staff
5
Having many friends who cannot eat products containing gluten, I often find myself in restaurants for celiacs, and I must say that Mama Eat is one of the best, catering to every palate.
3
A good place to snack on something, even if you need to stick to a gluten-free diet. There isn't a huge selection, but for a sort of "fast food" it's fine.
5
Very good. They have just renovated the place, making it more of a "restaurant" and less like a fast food. EVERYTHING is gluten-free and of excellent quality.
4
Completely gluten-free venue, small and cozy. Good dishes and higher prices than average. In the heart of Borgo Pio, an excellent solution among the shopping streets.
4
A SMALL PLACE, FRIENDLY STAFF AND GOOD GLUTEN AND LACTOSE FREE FOOD THE PLACE: easily reachable (even by subway, with a little walk), very close to the Vatican, in a pedestrian area. It doesn’t have many seats. THE FOOD: has recently changed its philosophy, transforming into a small restaurant. Many products from the Campania tradition, all gluten and lactose free. Everything is very tasty. I recommend the pistachio pizza! THE SERVICE AND PRICES: the staff is friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable for the central area and the cost of raw materials (about 40 euros for 2 pizzas, a 25 cm arancino, and drinks).
2
The pizza was not bad, but the fries tasted like fish, probably fried earlier... it's a shame that after pointing it out, they brought the same dish back to the table. It would have been more appropriate if they had said it was not possible to prepare them rather than assuming that after a certain hour the exhausted oil was "rich in various flavors.”
5
The best gluten-free pizza I've ever had! Very friendly staff and a simple but well-kept location. In addition to gluten-free options, they also have everything lactose-free. I will return and I recommend it!
5
Very good pizza and fried foods. A great place to go eat without spending too much on gluten-free street food.
5
We chose this place because it's close to St. Peter's and also my wife and my son are celiac, and we found it very good, delicious dishes and quick service.
5
Everything was delicious! It's been years since I ate at a street food place due to my celiac disease. Finally, a dream come true!
