This place is a pleasant discovery if you’re looking for an informal yet well-kept spot to enjoy a hearty breakfast or a tasty lunch, even in the case of celiac disease. Here, attention to food safety is well-informed about contamination and offers several gluten-free options clearly marked on the menu. Great for breakfasts or a drink break during a long hot period.

I have eaten here twice, and had appetizers more times. Be careful of contamination and the staff is friendly. I plan to return soon.

Gluten free options, and knowledge of gluten free diet was great. However as a very sensitive Celiac, I am always extremely cautious where I eat. The food was really nice presented and the attention regarding strict gluten free was taken seriously. The food looked better than it tasted, it was good but not great. The mayonnaise had an odd flavor. It was a great place to sit inside, clean, comfortable. I cannot for sure say it is truly a place that is safe for anyone with celiac. I did not have a reaction after eating, which is a good sign. They do try hard.

Located on the central Via Maqueda, my girlfriend and I discovered this place purely by chance while checking an app dedicated to restaurants offering gluten-free alternatives. Otto Breakfast & Grill was a true revelation during my last trip to Palermo: the venue, tastefully and discreetly furnished, offers three different menus dedicated respectively to breakfast, lunch (or brunch for the weekend), and dinner, each with slight variations. All three menus offer numerous variations of various dishes also in gluten-free versions, as already mentioned, so as not to exclude those like me who are celiac, but also those who are gluten intolerant. In our case, we had the opportunity to experience this place twice; on the first occasion, we ordered a gluten-free club sandwich and chicken strips with fries. The gluten-free bread was unexpectedly soft, perhaps slightly crunchier at the edges, but everything was compensated by the excellent quality of the filling. My girlfriend's chicken strips were equally satisfying, even though I couldn't try them myself. Satisfied with our first visit, we returned a second time last weekend for brunch, opting for a gluten-free croque monsieur for me and a hamburger for her. Again, we were not disappointed: excellent presentation of both dishes, superb quality of the cooked ham in my croque monsieur (as was the abundant fontina and béchamel), while my girlfriend appreciated the great taste of the hamburger bun. The service is very quick, but this does not affect the quality of the dishes at all. Very honest prices. We will definitely return.
