We’ve been traveling for a while now and trying all sorts of food, but nothing beats a meal that actually reminds you of home. This place was exactly what we needed. The Palak Paneer and Kadai Sabzi were spot on, but seriously you have to get the cheese naan. It’s easily the most generous one we’ve ever had, just oozing with cheese. It was freezing outside, so the complimentary corn soup they gave us was so thoughtful. Huge thanks to the chef and the team for the amazing hospitality. If you're looking for proper Indian / Vegan comfort food, this is the spot!

Every time we visit VOG, it feels like coming home. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly. It’s located in the cutest little alley in central Kyoto. And the food… we’ve been here countless times this trip. That’s how good everything is. Everything is vegetarian and most things can be made vegan. The Butter Soy Meat Keema Masala is perfection. Order it with Basmati Rice 🍚

I came here twice in three nights because the food here is amazingly good. I got the soy meat butter keema masala and chana masala. The breads are excellent with the sesame naan being my preference. The portion sizes are very generous. This restaurant is better than every Indian restaurant I’ve been to in America, and one of the two best I’ve been to in Japan. I recommend this place and will return the next time I’m in Kyoto.

The food here is undeniably tasty, and most of the menu items are perfectly portioned for one person. The prices are reasonable considering the quality of the food, and the mango lassi is exceptionally delicious and definitely a must-try! However, the customer service and hospitality need improvement. We had to ask for glasses to drink water after waiting for some time and when we finally received them, one glass was chipped at the tip which was a small thing, but something that should have been noticed before handing it to customers. The lady (who seemed to be the owner) also came across as a bit bossy regarding our order. We chose not to order much, which is completely our choice, but her reaction felt rude rather than helpful. It made us a little uncomfortable. At the end, during payment, my friend thanked her first, yet she didn’t thank us for visiting which felt quite impolite, especially for a restaurant in Japan where hospitality is highly valued. Overall, the food was great, but I hope they can improve the service and attitude towards customers and it would definitely make the dinning experience so much better.

VOG Kyoto is simply the best food I have had in Japan. As a vegan, I was overjoyed to find a vegan butter masala dish that tastes so creamy and full of spices. The vegan naan is perfectly crispy and chewy at the same time. They also have vegan mango lassi. And I have to recommend the vegan roll cake, one of the best desserts I had on my Japan trip. It’s not just the food that is amazing, the staff and owner are fantastic. They are friendly and kind, and the service is great. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are very good as well. Thank you VOG for an amazing dinner (and then another the next night since it was so good I had to come back for more)
