Located in a fun arcade district, this place offers yummy ramen for both those with and without gluten allergies. My wife said it was her favorite GF ramen of the trip and was excited for the ramen noodles that didn't taste like spaghetti. I found my traditional noodles to be very comforting and hearty after a long day of exploring. While some might label this place a tourist trap, it's actually a good place for tourists to eat and enjoy themselves without spending a lot. They can accommodate parties up to 4-6, but there might be a wait. Smaller parties can get in fast & English only is fine. The staff was nice, and the restaurant is very lively. There is a lot to explore around this location before and after as well.

Engine Ramen was absolutely worth the wait. The line was very long, but it ended up being one of the best — if not the best — ramen experiences I had in Japan as a vegan. They also offer gluten-free options, which is a huge plus, and the gluten-free ramen was just as amazing as the regular one. We tried the Kyoto vegan beaning ramen with gluten-free noodles, the vegan zesty ramen with regular noodles, and the gluten-free dumplings, and everything was excellent. Portions were generous, flavors were outstanding, and despite the long wait, I would 100% do it again.
